As a writer, one of the best blessings is the opportunity to experience some great things happening everywhere.

Since there are not any boundaries to what the world can offer (especially in NY) might as well take full advantage of everything.

P.S., it’s not a surprise, I have proclaimed my devoted love to New York City. However, this time around, on August 7, it was more than a pleasure to step out of the 212 area code and head into 516 – Long Beach, NY to be more specific.

What’s the purpose?

Let’s throw in the beach, conjoined multiple tents filled with delicious food samples/drinks from local restaurants and breweries, good people, and let’s not forget the main attraction: a preview into an upcoming film festival.

Give up?!

If you guessed the 4th Annual Long Beach Film Festival – congratulations because you are right on the money.

As the afternoon sun danced around, the evening promised to be a good night while watching guests pour in from the beach ramps and the Allegria Hotel into the sand.

Some took their place on the red-carpet, received massages, and most were huddled inside the tents singing another tune of clinking plastic cups, and juggling rows of food samples on their arms.

Everything from swordfish, shrimp crevice, pulled pork, salmon mousse resting on mini waffle cones, Tuna tartare, spicy Bloody Mary’s, Wine, authentic bubbly and so much more.

Whoever invented foodie events deserves a parade and a trophy of some sort.

Finally, as the sun set, and it was time to settle in with our beach chairs, blankets, perhaps even a special person and start the Shorts on the Beach.

It may sound as if it one title for a single movie, however, these were “short” films that will showcase in multiple venues between Long Beach and Rockville Center in September – hence the name of the event.

Some examples of upcoming features include “Missing U”, “Catch It,” “Bear Story,” and more.

I definitely did not expect anything like this type of event, and I couldn’t be happier that this was the best decision to spend an incredible Friday night.

I know I will be returning back out east from September 24-27 for more fun. Will you? Hope so. For more deets on the upcoming film festival, click here. See you in a few weeks.
