“Drink because you are happy, but never because you are miserable.”
― G.K. Chesterton, Heretics
Don’t let the extra leap day confuse you – February is over. This only means March is is here in full swing unleashing a flood of events to add more to the March Madness. This, in turn, causes quite a shake up to the social calendar making it difficult to choose where to be at any given time – unless you have successfully mastered the art of teleporting.
Until then, I personally look forward to sneaking and clocking out of work as quickly as humanly possible because I don’t want to miss one minute -even one second of one of the best ways to celebrate a Thursday at the epic get together known as….. (drum roll) Good Spirits.
Presented by Edible Manhattan and hosted by La Venue, the 7th Edition of Good Spirits took over on March 3. Despite the chilly weather, New Yorkers committed to curing their Thirsty Thursday and perhaps may have created an acceptable reason to call out from work the next day.
Warm, continuous and inviting vapors of flavor celebrated the aromas of fried oysters, curated meat, grilled lamb, seared ham, and smoked salmon – plus the endless bouquet of ginger, peppercorn, oranges, mint, juniper berries, hops infused adult beverages – were also welcomed with open senses.
In a matter of three hours, guests experienced wonderful edible treats from the Catskills, all the way down to Kings County, Brooklyn. In case you missed it here is the delicious roster of cravings served from Almond Flatiron, Bustan NYC, Copper Kettle Kitchen, Dirty Burger, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, L&W Oyster, Louie and Chan, Manhattan Cricket Club, Monument Lane, Neuman’s Kitchen, Orwashers Bakery, The Penrose, Prohibition Bakery, The Wren, and Wassail.
Sinful – yet tantalizing libations included: Acqua Panna, Black Dirt Distillery, Curious Traveler Lemon Shandy, Blue Nectar Tequila , Brooklyn Gin, Bruce Cost Ginger Ale, Catskill Provisions, Coney Island Brewing Company, Coppersea Distillery, Modelo Especial, Negra Modelo, Never Sink Spirits, Nobletree Coffee, Rekorderling Cider, Samuel Adams, Owney’s Rum (the first and only female-owned and run distillery), Owl’s Brew, Tommyrotter and Tuthilltown Spirits. One question, how does Angry Orchard Cider stay angry – even during such an uplifting event as the Good Spirits?
Who am I to judge?! If you missed this event, sorry. Not sorry. Serves you right for not buying tickets in advance. Just saying. Stay tuned for more insanely fun Edible Manhattan events by clicking here – and you could become even cooler than you are already are.
