Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Gala


Do you like cookies – oh and what about an incredible opportunity to be part of an event highlighting a great cause? February 23, Cookies For Kids’ Cancer hosted it’s 3rd annual “Chefs for Kids,” at the Metropolitan West.

Cookies for Kids is an organization whose dedication is to fund research for pediatric cancer treatments. This year’s event drew in 27 award-winning chefs where guests also had the pleasure to indulge in eating great food while supporting a good cause.

This night is in honor of Liam Witt, serving as the inspiration for the event.

Liam had the aspirations to become a chef. Nine years ago, the journey began, and in 2011, the battle and his dreams were tragically cut short. That said, his parents, Gretchen and Larry Witt decided to start the charity in 2008.

Since then, the organization has helped raise more than $12 million by hosting 7,000 events in the 50 states and 16 countries thus far. In addition, $10 million has been granted so far for treatments.

12-year-old DJ Fulano kept the feet tapping during the cocktail reception while sipping on libations from the most sought-after mixologists representing Flatiron Lounge, Clover Club, Ward 111, and the Rum House. Hors D’oeuvres were presented from Chefs Ivan Orkin (Ivan Ramen), and Josh Capon (Lure Fishbar & Bowery Meat Co) – and then it was time to head upstairs for the intimate four-course unique and authentic feast.

Some selected tables had an exclusive advantage with sommelier Thomas Pastuszak (Wine Director at the NoMad) who chose, paired and served wine with each dish. After dinner, the real after-party – including a live auction, as well as a special performance by musician and actress Jill Hennessy (Law & Order, Crossing Jordan). Actor Paul Rudd took and radio show personality – Elvis Duran also mingled in the crowd.

Bobby Flay, Johnathan Adler (Franny’s); Jonathan Benno (Lincoln Ristorante); Jamie Bissonnette (Toro NYC, Toro Boston, and Coppa); Josh Capon plus more.

Nothing completes an epic cookie party without a 14 combo cookie jar to take home from: Richard Capizzi( Lincoln Ristorante); Samantha Eichenberg (The Dessertist); Eleni Gianopulos (Eleni’s) Colleen Grapes (Oceana) plus amazing chefs.

The after- party offered more delicious goodies from Dominique Ansel (Dominique Ansel Bakery & Dominique Ansel Kitchen) Karlie Kloss and other great participators.
