A Slice of Latin America

Hello, midweek! A few more days left the month of March, and even though the weather was in between itself, we warmed up inside Guastavino’s, on March 25, during the 15th Annual “ A Slice of Latin America Gala,” presented by The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families, Inc.

Founded in 1982, this is a great organization that strives to improve the quality of life for Latino Children and their families by providing services through Youth Development programs, an Early Care & Education Institute, and policy and advocacy with a grassroots focus, making the CHCF one of the few Latino organizations in NYC that combines direct service with policy work that amplifies Latino voices at the local, state and national level.

On the first floor, guests had the chance to participate in a silent bid that included amazing gifts including and not limited to: tickets to “A Brooklyn Thing” sponsored by Brooklyn Academy of Music, mink coats, tickets to the upcoming tree lighting in Rockefeller Center,.

Additional items up for auction also included: NY City Ballet tickets, a Harbor Excursion, Coach Handbag, Wendy Williams tickets, Fitbit Wristbands, Kate Spade Tote Bag, Dinner at Sofrito’s and a night out on the town at Webster Hall, Pair of Jet Blue tickets and so much more.

While spending time on the first floor, we couldn’t get enough of the abundance of delicious samples from a few selected restaurants in New York. Featured chefs showcased their sinfully delicious samples highlighting Ecuador, Mexico, Cuba, Peru, Argentina, etc.

A while longer we arrived upstairs just in time for the live auction and to watch Nelida Tirado (New York Times acclaimed Flamenco Soloist) jolt up the energy on the dance floor.

Shortly thereafter, the awards ceremony and below are the honorees- and we express our congratulations to every nominee and recipient.

Sibila Vargas ( Co-Anchor, NBC4 New York) and Allan Villafana (Anchor, Noticiero Telemundo 47) were the welcoming voices to introduce the awards ceremony.
